Already comparing Shopify and Neosell

A Shopify alternative when the shop also needs a counter.

Shopify hosts the website and a POS in one subscription. Neosell advertises an Indian POS and a hosted store on the same stock. VyaparNext is the other path: start with free offline billing, then add a hosted Medusa store when the website should sell.

What is free, what is hosted, and what needs a connection

POS Lite · ₹0

Offline billing on Windows, macOS, or Android. No server and no login required to bill. Barcodes, variants, cash, one tax rate, receipts, and reports stay on the device.

Cloud Sync · ₹299/month

Up to three POS Lite devices share bills about every hour. Seven daily snapshots are kept in India time. Included with Connected POS and Commerce.

Connected POS · ₹10,000 setup, then ₹600/month

A hosted Medusa backend with the POS plugins. Staff PINs and tills. No website. Cash, UPI QR, and card through the shop’s machine.

Website · ₹25,000 setup, then ₹1,200/month

A hosted backend and storefront, from a theme, a zip, or GitHub, on your domain. Payments and shipping. This plan does not include the POS.

POS + Website · ₹35,000 setup, then ₹1,800/month

One backend for the counter and the website. The same catalogue and stock. This is the plan to pick when an online order should draw the size the cashier just sold.

If you already run the backend yourself, Connected POS against that server is ₹450 a month. Your server needs medusa-pos-plugin 0.0.24 or newer.

Questions

Can I start with a free counter and add the website later?

Yes. POS Lite is ₹0 and bills on the device with no server. Cloud Sync is ₹299 a month when more than one device should share those bills. The hosted website is a separate plan: Website is ₹25,000 setup and ₹1,200 a month. Commerce, at ₹35,000 setup and ₹1,800 a month, is the plan where the counter and the website share one catalogue.

What still needs a connection?

POS Lite finishes a cash sale, and can record Google Pay or PhonePe on that bill, without Wi-Fi. The customer’s UPI app still needs a network. Connected POS and the hosted website talk to a Medusa backend, so those plans need a connection. Card payments on Connected POS use the shop’s POS machine.

How is this different from Neosell?

Neosell advertises an Indian POS and an online store on the same inventory. VyaparNext splits the same decision into published plans: free offline billing, a hosted backend with no website, a hosted website, or Commerce when both should share stock. The bill on POS Lite is a tax invoice with one tax rate. It does not file a GST return.
